Pavel Buráň
Pavel Buráň (born April 25, 1973 in Brno ) is a former Czech track cyclist and European champion.
From 1990 to 2005, Pavel Buráň, who is only 1.66 meters tall, was one of the world's top track cyclists. In 1990 and 1991 he was runner-up in the junior sprint world championship . At the UCI track world championships in 2001 and 2002 he was runner-up in the tandem amateurs ' world championship , both times with Lubomír Hargaš . At the UCI Track World Championships in Manchester in 2000 , Buráň took third place in the Keirin .
Buráň was also successful at European championships. Several times he took podium places in the Omnium Sprint, in 2001 he became European champion in this discipline. In 1996 and 2000 he also took part in the Olympic Games, but without much success.
After retiring from active cycling in 2005, Pavel Buráň worked for several years as a sprint coach for the Dutch national track team. He then worked for the Greek Cycling Association and was also active as a tandem colleague for visually impaired Czech athletes.
Honors
In 1999 and 2000 he was the winner of the annual Král cyklistiky ( cycling king ) survey of the Československý svaz cyklistiky cycling association.
