Lori-Ann Muenzer (born May 21, 1966 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian cyclist who specialized in track cycling .

Muenzer, who won 13 Canadian championship titles in the course of her career, did not advance to the top of the world until she was over 30 years old. In 2000 she won the silver medal in the track sprint at the Track Cycling World Championships in Manchester . The following year, silver in the 500-meter time trial and bronze in the track sprint were added at the World Championships in Antwerp . At the Commonwealth Games 2002 , which again took place in Manchester, Muenzer was second in the track sprint and third in the 500-meter time trial. She won another bronze medal in the track sprint in Melbourne in 2004 .

The greatest success of her career was winning the gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens . This success came as a surprise because she was at least seven years older than all the other participants who had qualified for the final. Four days earlier, she finished seventh in the 500-meter time trial. In 2006 she announced her retirement from top-class sport.

Today Muenzer lives in Edmonton . She founded Pure Momentum , a company that provides public relations services. In 2007 she published her autobiography under the title One Gear, No Breaks ( ISBN 1-55263-883-9 ).
