Giorgio Morbiato
Giorgio Morbiato (born July 30, 1948 in Padua ) is a former Italian cyclist and two-time world champion.
Athletic career
Giorgio Morbiato was a specialist in team pursuit . In this discipline he became world champion in Montevideo in 1968 , together with Cipriano Chemello , Lorenzo Bosisio and Luigi Roncaglia . In the same year, the Italian four-man raced in the same line-up at the Olympic Games in Mexico City and won the bronze medal. In 1969 the Italian team ( Antonio Castello , Algeri and Bazzan) finished second at the World Championships. 1971 Morbiato was a second time world champion in the team pursuit (with Bazzan, Algeri and Luciano Borgognoni ).
1973 Morbiato became a professional and from then on competed in both track races and road races , but without outstanding results. In 1973 he became Italian vice world champion in the standing race . He also started in 20 six-day races and won that of Delhi ( Canada ) in 1974 , together with Alberto Della Torre . In 1976 he ended his career in which he could achieve a victory in road races.
