Giacomo Bazzan

Giacomo Bazzan (born January 13, 1950 in Vescovana ; † December 24, 2019 ) was an Italian cyclist .

In 1969, Giacomo Bazzan started with the Italian four-man at the World Railroad Championships in Brno and together with Antonio Castello , Pietro Algeri and Giorgio Morbiato he was runner-up in the team pursuit . In 1970 he became Italian champion in the team pursuit and in 1971 in the individual pursuit . At the UCI Track World Championships in 1971 in Varese , Bazzan won the world championship title with Luciano Borgognoni , Morbiato and Algeri, and won bronze in the single pursuit. In 1972 he went to the Olympic Games in Munich with the four at the start, which could not qualify for the final round of the top eight.

1973 Bazzan turned professional and finished second in the single pursuit at the national track championships in the next two years. In 1975 he took part in the Tour de France , but gave up after the eleventh stage. In 1976 he finished third in the Italian championship in the pursuit, then he ended his sporting career.
