Cipriano Chemello

Cipriano Chemello (born July 19, 1945 in Crespano del Grappa ; † February 14, 2017 in Bassano del Grappa ) was an Italian cyclist and two-time world champion in cycling .

Cipriano Chemello was world champion in team pursuit twice, in 1966 and 1968 , in 1966 with Luigi Roncaglia , Antonio Castello and Gino Pancino , and in 1968 with Giorgio Morbiato , Lorenzo Bosisio and Roncaglia. In other line-ups, the Italian four-four with Chemello was runner-up in the world championship in 1965 and 1967 . In 1967 he was also fourth in the single pursuit .

At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City , Chemello won the bronze medal in the team pursuit together with Bosisio, Roncaglia, Morbiato and Pancino. Chemello also started in the single pursuit, but was eliminated in the quarterfinals.

In 1969, Cipriano Chemello turned pro and also raced on the road. In the Tour of Catalonia he won two stages in 1969 and a stage from Paris – Nice in 1970 . He also competed in standing and six-day races .

In 1973 Chemello ended his cycling career. For some years he was director of the velodrome of Bassano del Grappa and Chairman of the Regional Cycling Federation of the Veneto .
