Luciano Borgognoni

Luciano Borgognoni (born October 12, 1951 in Gallarate ; † August 2, 2014 ) was an Italian cyclist and world champion.

In 1971 Luciano Borgognoni was first Italian champion in the team pursuit and in the same year in Varese world champion in the same discipline, with Pietro Algeri , Giacomo Bazzan and Giorgio Morbiato . 1973 Borgononi went over to the professionals . In 1974 he won the first edition of the Giro del Friuli and was Italian champion in the single pursuit , at the Giro di Sardegna he finished second. In 1976 he became national champion in the single pursuit for a second time. In 1977 he won two stages at the Giro d'Italia and was third in the points classification . In 1982 he ended his career as a professional driver, in which he was able to achieve a total of eight victories.
