Marco Coledan (born August 22, 1988 ) is a former Italian cyclist .
Career
Coledan was European champion in the junior single pursuit on the track in Athens in 2006 . In his first year with the adults, in 2007, he finished third in this discipline in the Italian championships and on the road third in the Italian championship in the individual time trial of the U23 class.
In the next few years Coleda continued to be successful on the track and was Italian elite champion a total of eight times in the disciplines individual pursuit, team pursuit , points race and derny race by 2016 . His most successful year to date was 2013 when he won the national titles in the single pursuit, the team pursuit and in the derny as well as in the single pursuit of the track cycling world cup run in Manchester .
In 2012 Coledan received a contract with the Professional Continental Team Colnago-CSF Inox and competed in the Giro d'Italia , which he finished in 153rd. According to an investigation by the Italian sports authorities, Coledan should move to Liquigas-Cannondale in 2014 to reinforce the sprint train for Elia Viviani . Team manager Bruno Reverberi is said to have demanded a € 15,000 transfer fee each from Coledan and Viviani. After their approval, the price is said to have doubled. After that, the agreement did not come about and Coledan continued to drive for the team, but was not used much, which was called bullying by the Association of Italian Cyclists .
In 2015 he switched to the UCI WorldTeam Trek Factory Racing , for which he competed twice in the Giro d'Italia . In the last year of his career with Wilier Triestina-Selle Italia , he finished the Giro d'Italia 2018 and won his only international road race with a Tour du Maroc stage .
