The 18th stage of the Tour de France 2018 led over 171 kilometers from Trie-sur-Baïse to Pau on July 26, 2018 .
Between two mountain stages, this part of the day took place mainly in flat terrain. There were only two mountain classifications in the 4th category, the last 19 kilometers before the finish.
The stage winner in the mass sprint of the peloton was Arnaud Démare ( Groupama-FDJ ) ahead of Christophe Laporte ( Cofidis, Solutions Crédits ) and Alexander Kristoff ( UAE Team Emirates ).
The stage was marked by the attempt to break away by a top group of five with Mathew Hayman , Niki Terpstra , Thomas Boudat , Guillaume Van Keirsbulck and Luke Durbridge , which formed shortly after the start. After 105 kilometers, the gap of a maximum of 1:30 minutes was shortened by a counterattack by Sep Vanmarcke , Michael Gogl and Jasper Stuyven . After the three pursuers were caught up, the leading quintet built the lead back to 2:20 minutes before, under the chase work of the three teams, the later first place in the last mountain classification was overtaken by a counterattack for the overall ninth Daniel Martin and then by the field.
There was no change in leadership in the overall standings or in the special ratings. Durbridge was awarded the Red Number .
