The 21st stage of the Tour de France 2018 led on July 29, 2018 over a flat 115 kilometers from Houilles to Paris . As always since 1975 , the prestigious final stage of the Tour de France ended on the Champs-Élysées in 2018 . The last 55 of the flat 115 kilometers of the day were driven in nine finish laps.
Traditionally, the wearer of the yellow jersey is not attacked on the final stage , even if there have been exceptions in the history of the Tour de France .
The stage winner in the mass sprint of the field was Alexander Kristoff ahead of John Degenkolb and Arnaud Démare . Previously there were unsuccessful attempts to break away, initially after Sylvain Chavanel entered the circuit for a few kilometers . This was followed by a group of six with Taylor Phinney , Michael Schär , Silvan Dillier , Nils Politt , Damien Gaudin and Guillaume Van Keirsbulck , who had a maximum lead of 50 seconds. Politt was the last of this group to be placed 5.6 kilometers from the finish. Two kilometers from the finish, Marco Marcato attacked , followed by Daniel Oss and Yves Lampaert . Lampaert was overtaken about 250 meters from the finish.
There were no changes in leadership in the overall standings or in the special ratings.
