The 19th stage of the Tour de France 2018 led over 200.5 kilometers from Lourdes to Laruns on July 27, 2018 .

The last mountain stage of the Tour de France 2018 started with two mountain classifications in the 4th category before the main difficulties of the day with the Col d'Aspin began. This 1st category mountain classification was accepted after 83 kilometers and showed 6.5 percent ascent over 12 kilometers. This was followed by the Hors Catégorie mountain classification at the Col du Tourmalet after 108 kilometers (7.3% gradient over 17.1 kilometers), at which the special prize Souvenir Jacques Goddet was awarded. Via the Col de Bordères (2nd category, 5.8% over 8.6 kilometers) and the Col du Soulor , the course climbed to the Col d'Aubisque , the last Hors Catégorie mountain classification with double the number of points (4.9% gradient 16.6 kilometers), from the summit of which there was a descent of 20 kilometers to the stage destination. The passage at Col d'Aubisque was at risk after a landslide, as the road was still closed in June 2018.

The winner of the stage was Primož Roglič ( Team Lotto NL-Jumbo ) in front of a group of seven chasers led by Geraint Thomas ( Team Sky ) who wore the yellow jersey in front of Romain Bardet ( Ag2r La Mondiale ).

At the beginning of the stage, various breakaway groups came together to form a front field ultimately comprising 18 drivers who were able to extend a maximum lead of five minutes. After his team Katusha Alpecin shortened the gap, Ilnur Zakarin attacked on the climb to the Tourmalet together with Mikel Landa and Bardet. The three pursuers caught up with Julian Alaphilippe (the leaders in the mountain classification), Bob Jungels , Warren Barguil , Tanel Kangert , Mikel Nieve , Gorka Izagirre and Rafał Majka on the descent to the remnants of the runaways . From the group around the overall leader Thomas attacked at the foot of the Aubisque Steven Kruijswijk , later his teammate Roglič caught up with Tom Dumoulin and Thomas, while Thomas' teammate, last year's winner Chris Froome, had difficulties following. On the descent, Roglič overtook the last runaway Majka and distanced the other riders in his group. He took over the third place overall from Froome.

Landa, who improved from seventh to sixth place in the overall standings, was awarded the red number . His team Movistar defended the lead in the team standings despite the break-in by Nairo Quintana , who fell from fifth to ninth place due to the fall the day before .

Jelle Vanendert gave up the race because of stomach problems.
