Tony Gallopin (born May 24, 1988 Dourdan , Essonne , Île-de-France ) is a French cyclist .
Career
Tony Gallopin won a stage in the Swiss junior race GP Rüebliland in 2005 . In 2006 he finished second in the junior time trial at the European championship in Valkenburg and the French championship. In the Liège-La Gleize tour , he won two stages and came third overall. At the Junior World Championships in Spa-Francorchamps , Gallopin won bronze medals in the time trial and in the road race. In 2007 he finished second in the French U23 time trial championship.
Gallopin has been riding for international cycling teams since 2008 , initially for the French Continental Team Auber 93 . In 2010 he switched to the Professional Continental Team Cofidis , for which he achieved his first success in an international elite cycling race with a stage win at the Tour of Luxembourg . In 2012 he moved to the Luxembourg ProTeam RadioShack . He achieved his first success in a UCI WorldTour race at the Clásica San Sebastián in 2013 after attacking a group of 13 people 15 km from the finish and finishing the race single-handedly. In the same year he became French road racing champion . Gallopin won the 11th stage of the 2014 Tour de France in the sprint of the front field. In 2016 he became French champion in both road racing and individual time trial . Gallopin won the favored 7th stage of the Vuelta a España 2018 by being able to pull away from the field two kilometers from the finish.
Tony Gallopin's father, Joël Gallopin , and his brothers, Guy Gallopin and Alain Gallopin , who has worked as a sports director after his career has ended, were also professional cyclists.
