The 12th stage of the Tour de France 2017 took place on July 13, 2017 . It led over 214.5 kilometers from Pau to Peyragudes . There was an intermediate sprint in Loures-Barousse after 94 kilometers as well as a mountain classification of the 4th, two mountain ratings of the 2nd, two mountain ratings of the 1st category and a mountain classification of the "Hors Catégorie".

The winner of the stage was Romain Bardet from a group of eleven people on the finish slope, which is up to 20 percent steep, with a two-second lead over Rigoberto Urán and Fabio Aru . The top group broke up at the Col de Peyresourde under the pace dictated by Chris Froomes Team Sky . They caught up with Steve Cummings , the last runaway, 8.8 kilometers from the finish line , who was part of a top group of twelve at the beginning of the stage. In the last 300 meters Froome could no longer follow the pace of the best, finished seventh of the day 22 seconds behind and lost his yellow jersey to Aru.
