Peyragudes is a winter sports station in the French Pyrenees .

geography

Peyragudes is located in the Hautes-Pyrénées and Haute-Garonne departments in the Occitanie region near the Col de Peyresourde . The station was created in 1988 by merging the stations Peyresourde ( Germ , Hautes-Pyrénées) and Agudes ( Gouaux-de-Larboust , Haute-Garonne).

One of the highlights of the station is the location in the two departments. You can switch between the two slopes via the Col de la Flamme or the station. Peyragudes is a place where beginners can easily learn to ski, there are idiot hills, as well as drag lifts and chair lifts for beginners.

Route du Sud

On June 20, 2010, the station was the destination of the third stage of the Route du Sud , a time trial of 16.4 km from Loudenvielle to the station via a newly built road won by David Moncoutié .

Tour de France

On July 19, 2012, the station was the stage destination of the 17th stage of the Tour de France 2012 between Bagnères-de-Luchon and Peyragudes. The summit of the climb for the mountain classification was 1000 m before the finish at 1603  m . Alejandro Valverde was the first to reach the summit and won the stage. Chris Froome and Bradley Wiggins followed 19 seconds apart. On July 13, 2017, the station was also a stage destination of the 12th stage of the Tour de France 2017 , which started in Pau . The stage was won by Romain Bardet . Chris Froome lost the yellow jersey to Fabio Aru here .

Vuelta

On September 18, 2013, the station was the stage destination of the 15th stage of the Vuelta between Andorra and Peyragudes. At the end of this stage, Alexandre Geniez managed to break away from the group of favorites with more than three minutes. Alexandre Geniez and his companion were able to flee from Port de Balès .
