The 2nd stage of the Tour de France 2017 took place on July 2nd, 2017. It led over 203.5 kilometers from Düsseldorf to Liège . There was an intermediate sprint in Mönchengladbach after 82.5 kilometers and two mountain ratings in the 4th category.

The winner of the mass sprint was the German Marcel Kittel , who was badly placed by the sprint train of his Quick-Step Floors team, but was able to gradually work his way forward on the rising home straight in the wake of competitors. The yellow jersey was defended by Geraint Thomas .
