Daniel McLay (born January 3, 1992 in Wellington , New Zealand ) is a British cyclist who is active on track , road and in cyclo-cross races.

Career

Daniel McLay started cycling at the age of six. Since then he has competed on the track , on the road and cross-country races . In 2009 he was accepted into the Olympic Academy Program . In the following year he was together with Simon Yates junior world champion in two-man team driving , in the team pursuit , the British team with McLay, Simon Yates , Sam Harrison and Owain Doull was vice world champion.

After three years in the ProTeam Lotto youth team , he joined the Professional Continental Team Bretagne-Séché Environnement in 2015 and was able to achieve a top place in a classic for the first time with sixth place in the Brussels Cycling Classic . In 2016 he won the Grand Prix de Denain and Grand Prix de la Somme , the following year the Trofeo Palma and the Tour de l'Eurométropole . In 2018 he won a stage of the Circuit Cycliste Sarthe , in 2019 a stage of the Herald Sun Tour .
