Samuel "Sam" James Harrison (born June 24, 1992 in Crosskeys ) is a former Welsh cyclist who was primarily successful on the track .

Athletic career

Sam Harrison began cycling at the age of 13. In 2008, at the age of 16, he was accepted into the British "Olympic Development Program" after he had become British junior runner-up in the cyclo-cross race that same year . In 2010, he and Dan McLay became British junior runner-up in two-man team driving and junior runner-up world champion in the Omnium and in the team pursuit . He also took seventh place in the Pavé de Roubaix , the Paris – Roubaix youth competition.

At the UCI Track World Championships 2011 in Apeldoorn , Harrison won bronze with the British track four ( Ed Clancy , Peter Kennaugh and Andrew Tennant ). At the European Junior Championships, he finished second with a fourth, and at national level he was third in the elite in the 1000 meter time trial . In 2013 Sam Harrison became vice world champion in the team pursuit in Minsk , together with Steven Burke , Ed Clancy and Andrew Tennant. In 2017 he ended his cycling career.
