The 4th stage of the Tour de France 2017 took place on July 4th 2017. It led over 207.5 kilometers from Bad Mondorf to Vittel . There was an intermediate sprint in Goviller after 157.5 kilometers and a 4th category mountain classification.

Arnaud Démare's sprint victory was overshadowed by the exclusion of Peter Sagan , who is said to have triggered his fall with an elbow check against Mark Cavendish . Geraint Thomas defended the yellow jersey .
