Louis Meintjes (born February 21, 1992 in Pretoria ) is a South African racing cyclist .
Career
In 2010 Louis Meintjes was two-time South African junior champion, in cycling and in the individual time trial . In 2011 he finished second at the Africa Road Championships in Asmara in both the individual and team time trials (with Herman Fouche , Reinardt Janse van Rensburg and Jacobus Venter ) and finished 18th in the individual time trial at the Road World Championships (U23). In 2012 he was the South African U23 time trial champion and second in the road race. In the 2013 season Meintjes joined Team MTN Qhubeka as a neoprofessional .
During the Vuelta a España 2015 , which he surprisingly finished tenth overall, he announced that he had signed a two-year contract with Team Lampre-Merida . In the service of this team, he took part in the Tour de France for the second time and was eighth overall. In the junior ranking he finished second behind Adam Yates after being one of the favorites for this ranking. At the Tour de France 2017 he was again overall eighth.
