Willem Jacobus "Willie" Smit (born December 29, 1992 in Nelspruit ) is a South African racing cyclist.

Athletic career

In 2013 Willie Smit was runner-up for Africa . In the following years he was able to achieve numerous victories in domestic races in Africa, such as stages of the Panorama Tour , stages and overall classification of the Clover Tour and the Tour of Mauritius . In 2017 he won the title of African champion in the road race, in the individual time trial he finished fourth.

In 2019, he made his debut for the first time in a country tour of the Grand Tour by participating in the Vuelta Espana .

Besides cycling, Smit is studying law .
