Government of Marian Čalfa II
The Czechoslovak government Marián Čalfa II , led by the Prime Minister Marián Čalfa , was in office from June 27, 1990 to July 2, 1992. It followed the Marián Čalfa I government and was replaced by the Jan Stráský government .
Government formation, program
The Marián Čalfa II government was in office - like the Marián Čalfa I government - at the time of the historical upheaval in Czechoslovakia and the transition from the communist one-party system to the democratic parliamentary democracy of the western type. After the new federal state, the Czechoslovak Federal Republic , was established on March 29, 1990 and renamed the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic on April 22, 1990 . June 1990 parliamentary elections took place. The government of Marián Čalfa I, which had the task of preparing these elections, subsequently resigned on June 27, 1990.
When the new Marián Čalfa II government was formed, misunderstandings arose, which led to the fact that the dates in some sources are not identical. The Čalfa I government resigned on the evening of June 27, 1990, and the new Čalfa II government was established less than an hour later, albeit at a time when the new federal assembly of deputies had not yet ended. As a result, legal doubts arose as to whether the constitutional path was being followed, which is why both steps were repeated on June 29, 1990 (with the same composition of the cabinet). The records of the Government of the Czech Republic hold the date June 27, 1990.
Čalfa's second government was supposed to continue and consolidate the social transformation.
On June 26, 1992, the government announced its resignation and continued government affairs on a provisional basis until July 2, 1992.
