Anthony Turgis (born May 16, 1994 in Bourg-la-Reine ) is a French cyclist .
Career
Anthony Turgis won a stage at Liège-La Gleize in Belgium in 2012 . Two years later the triumph at Liège – Bastogne – Liège followed in the U23 category. At the end of 2014 he became a trainee at Cofidis, Solutions Crédits . There Turgis got his first professional contract. In 2015 he won the overall ranking, the junior ranking and a stage at the Boucles de la Mayenne . There was also the bronze medal at the UCI Road World Championships 2015 in Richmond in the U23 road race.
At the beginning of 2016, Anthony Turgis won the French one-day race Classic Loire Atlantique . In June he won a stage in the Tour of Luxembourg in 2016 .
He finished third at the Tour de l'Eurométropole 2017 in Belgium . However, he was in the lead up to about 20 meters from the finish line, after which he was able to pull away from a small group 800 meters from the finish. Turgis started to cheer too early and was ultimately overtaken by Daniel McLay and Kenny Dehaes . In 2018 he finished second in the sprint from a small group at the French road championship in Mantes-la-Jolie . Turgis only had to admit defeat to Anthony Roux .
Personal
Anthony Turgis has two brothers; the older Jimmy (* 1991) is also active in cycling and the younger Tanguy (* 1998) had to end his career as a professional cyclist after the 2017 season due to heart problems .
