Luka Pibernik (born October 23, 1993 in Ljubljana ) is a Slovenian cyclist .

Pibernik was Slovenian road racing champion in 2013 and 2015 and won his first race on the international calendar in 2013 with the second stage of the Czech Cycling Tour .

In 2015 he received his first contract with a UCI WorldTeam , the Italian team Lampre-Merida . For this team he contested his first Grand Tour with the Tour de France 2016 , which he finished in 102nd place. On the sixth stage of the Eneco Tour 2016 , he achieved his first success in a UCI WorldTour race as the sprint winner of a five-man breakaway group .

At the Giro d'Italia 2017 , Pibernik already believed himself to be the winner in the sprint final of the fifth stage and at the finish line cheered his supposed victory after a late attack, but overlooked that there was still another final lap to be driven.
