Dylan Teuns (born March 1, 1992 in Diest ) is a Belgian racing cyclist .
Athletic career
As a junior driver, Teuns won the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad in his age group. In the adult sector he drove with the BMC Development Team in 2014 and at the end of the year as a trainee with the UCI ProTeam BMC . This year saw the first major successes in the U23 and elite area: He won the junior class of the Tour de Bretagne Cycliste , in which he also came second overall, a stage of the Giro della Valle d'Aosta , a stage and the Junior ranking of the Tour of Utah as well as a stage of the UCI Nationcup race Tour de l'Avenir . He was also runner-up in the U23 editions of the classic Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Liège – Bastogne – Liège and Giro di Lombardia . He then received a regular contract for the following year.
His international breakthrough came in 2017. He finished third in the mountain sprint of the UCI WorldTour race and classic Flèche Wallonne, one second behind the winner Alejandro Valverde . In the summer he won two sections and the overall classification of the Tour de Wallonie stage race . He then won his first WorldTour race with the Tour of Poland in 2017 , after beating World Champion Peter Sagan in the sprint on the final ramp of the third stage , taking the overall lead on the mountainous sixth stage and two seconds ahead of Rafał Majka on the final low mountain stage defended. Also in 2017 he won the Arctic Race of Norway .
