Arctic Race of Norway
The Arctic Race of Norway is a four-stage cycle race for men that runs north of the Arctic Circle through the northern part of Norway .
The stage race took place for the first time from August 8th to 11th, 2013 as part of the UCI Europe Tour 2013 and was classified in UCI Category 2.1. It ran over a total of 705.5 kilometers. The race was organized by the Amaury Sport Organization (ASO) and the Norwegian company Arctic Race of Norway ; The main sponsor was Statoil . The ASO is also responsible for the Tour de France , among other things . With the introduction of this cycling event, the ASO also took into account the fact that some internationally successful cycling stars such as Thor Hushovd and Edvald Boasson Hagen come from Norway. Hushovd was named a Race Ambassador in June 2013 .
The 2015 edition was upgraded to the 2nd HC category by the UCI and became part of the newly introduced UCI ProSeries in 2020 .
On Norwegian television, the race achieved a market share of 28 to 44 percent, comparable to the Tour de France .
