Kenny van Hummel
Kenny Robert van Hummel (born September 30, 1982 in Arnhem ) is a former Dutch cyclist .
Career
Kenny van Hummel began his international career in 2002 with the Rabobank youth team . In 2004 he switched to Van Hemert-Eurogifts , later called Eurogifts.com , where he collected a number of victories in lower-class elite and U23 races. From 2006 to 2011 he drove for the Dutch Professional Continental Team Skil-Shimano . At the Tour of Qatar in 2006 he was twelfth in the overall ranking and third in the junior ranking, just under five seconds behind the winner Matti Breschel . His greatest successes during this period include a stage win at the Four Days of Dunkirk in 2009 , a total of seven stage wins at the Tour of Hainan in 2010 and 2011, and in 2011 winning the overall standings along with two stages of the Ronde van Drenthe and the one-day Memorial Rik Van race Steenbergen .
Van Hummel became known at the Tour de France 2009 . He lost touch with the field on several mountain stages in the early stages and covered almost the entire distance as a soloist. He reached the finish several times just before the time limit , but never got off the bike. His goal of arriving in Paris as the bearer of the Lanterne Rouge was his incentive. However, due to a fall on a descent during the 17th stage and the resulting injuries, he had to give up this goal.
After he did not receive a new contract from his last team, the Italian team Androni Giocattoli-Venezuela , he ended his career at the end of the 2014 season. For this team he won several stages of smaller tours in 2013 and 2014.
