The 17th stage of the Tour de France 2009 on July 22nd led north of Albertville in the Haute-Savoie department over 169.5 km from Bourg-Saint-Maurice to Le Grand-Bornand . With the two intermediate sprints and one mountain classification in the 2nd and four climbs in the 1st category, it was rated as the queen stage of this tour. After three ascents, this year the Col de la Colombière (1,613 m) was approached from the Arve Valley via the Col de Romme (1,297 m near Cluses ) to finish.
