Carlos Barredo Llamazales (born June 5, 1981 in Oviedo ) is a former Spanish cyclist .

Barredo's greatest successes as a cyclist included winning the Clásica San Sebastián 2009 and a stage win at the Vuelta a España 2010 .

He became known in the media for his anger over the missed stage win in the Tour de France on July 24, 2008. He lost to Marcus Burghardt in the finish sprint .

Barredo made headlines when he had an argument with the Portuguese Rui Costa after reaching the finish line at the 6th stage of the Tour de France 2010 . Barredo hit his opponent with the front wheel of his bike, who took the bike from him and returned the favor with punches. Barredo complained that Rui Costa touched his handlebars on the final kilometers.

In October 2012, the World Cycling Federation UCI asked the Spanish Cycling Federation to open a doping process due to irregularities in Barredo's Biological Passport . Barredo then announced his retirement from active cycling in December 2012.
