Tour of Hainan

The Tour of Hainan is a cycling race in China .

The stage race was founded in 2006 and ran through the island province of Hainan in eight stages until 2007 . From 2008 the race was expanded to ten stages. From the beginning the tour was part of the UCI Asia Tour . 2006 initially with category 2.2 , but from 2007 classified as 2.1 , the tour counts as category 2.HC from 2009 and was thus one of the most important races of the UCI Asia Tour. After the event in October 2018, the competition was postponed to late winter and was to be held as a race for the new UCI ProSeries in 2020 , but was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
