Sacha Modolo (born June 19, 1987 in Conegliano ) is an Italian racing cyclist . He is considered a sprint specialist in road cycling .

Career

Sacha Modolo was third in the 2004 Italian championship in road racing in the junior class.

In the 2006 season he won the one-day race Giro del Casentino, his first elite competition on the international calendar. After winning the Gran Premio della Liberazione in 2009 , he received a contract with the UCI Professional Continental Team Colnago-CSF Inox from the 2010 season .

In 2011 he won a total of nine stages and the semi-classic Coppa Agostoni in various smaller tours . In 2012 there were four stage wins in smaller tours. In 2013 he achieved a record of six stage wins at the Tour of Qinghai Lake Tour in China, in which he also won the points classification .

Modolo then switched to the UCI WorldTeam Lampre-Merida for the 2014 season , for which he completed one stage of the Tour de San Luis , two one-day races of the Mallorca Challenge , one stage of the Volta ao Algarve and two stages of the Driedaagse van De Panne-Koksijde in his first year won. After these victories in smaller races, he achieved his first successes in races of the UCI WorldTour with stage wins in the Tour de Suisse and the Tour of Beijing .

At the Giro d'Italia 2015 , Modolo won the 13th and 17th stages and thus achieved his greatest successes to date. He also won the overall ranking of an international stage race for the first time with the Tour of Hainan . He achieved further WorldTour stage victories at the Tour of Turkey 2016 and the Tour of Poland 2017 .

In 2018 he switched to the American team EF Education First-Drapac , for which he won a stage of the Tour of Andalusia in his first year .
