Josephine "Josie" Tomic (born June 9, 1989 in Perth ) is a former Australian cyclist who was active on the road and track .

Athletic career

Josephine Tomic, an Australian of Croatian origin, began competitive cycling at the age of 14. Just one year later, she represented her country at the Oceania Games in 2004. By 2008 she achieved numerous victories and podium places in her age categories. In 2007 she became a three-time junior world champion, in the single pursuit and in the points race on the track and in the individual time trial on the road. In 2008 Tomic became two-time Australian champion, in the single and team pursuit, and had her first starts at World Cups .

In 2009 Josephine Tomic won the title of world champion in the Omnium in Pruszków , an all-around discipline that was held for the first time for women at this World Cup. In the team pursuit, she finished third with the Australian team. At the track world championships the following year, she won her second world title together with Ashlee Ankudinoff and Sarah Kent in the team pursuit. In 2012 the Australian team with Tomic, Melissa Hoskins and Annette Edmondson became vice world champions . The three athletes also started together at the Olympic Games in London , but missed the podium and finished fourth. Then Josie Tomic ended her cycling career.

Tomic was married to the former Australian cyclist Jack Bobridge .
