Westley Marc Gough (born May 4, 1988 in Waipukurau ) is a retired New Zealand track and road cyclist . His specialty was team tracking on the track.
Athletic career
Westley Gough was junior track cycling world champion in the team pursuit in Vienna in 2005 . The following year he became New Zealand junior class champion in scratch and 1000 m time trial . He also won the silver medal in the individual and in the team pursuit at the World Championships in Ghent . At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing Gough won a bronze medal after he had taken part in the heats of the Team Pursuit. At the UCI Track World Championships in Pruszków in 2009 , he also won bronze in the team pursuit (with Sam Bewley , Peter Latham and Marc Ryan ).
On the road, Gough was the 2004 New Zealand individual time trial champion . In the 2008 season he was successful in the team time trial of the Tour of Southland , and he was national criterion champion.
In 2009 he was with Bewley, Latham and Ryan Oceania champion in the team pursuit. The following year, the New Zealand foursome was successful with Gough at the Commonwealth Games with silver and at the Cali World Cup with gold. After becoming the New Zealand road individual time trial champion in 2011, he won the bronze medal with the New Zealand foursome ( Aaron Gate , Sam Bewley and Marc Ryan) at the World Track Championships in 2012 . At the following Olympic Games in London in 2012 , Gough, Bewley, Ryan, Sergent and Gate again won bronze for New Zealand.
In 2015, Gough ended his cycling career.
