Time trial (track cycling)
The 1000 m time trial / 500 m time trial , in short: time trial is a discipline of track cycling . For individual time trials in road cycling, see individual time trials .

The time trial is run with a standing start. For men it is over 1000 meters, for women over 500 meters. The competition is held in two rounds. First of all, all drivers start in a qualification in which the first eight qualify for the final. In national or smaller international competitions, the winner can also be determined in one round.
Records
The current record holder for the men is Frenchman François Pervis , who needed 56.303 seconds for the 1000 meters on December 7, 2013 in Aguascalientes . For women, the record run of May 30, 2014 in Moscow applies , in which the Russian Olga Streltsova drove the 500 meters in 29.234 seconds.
Results at UCI Track World Championships
Men
Until 1991, the world time trial championship competition was reserved for amateurs and was not held during the 1972, 1976, 1980, 1984, 1988 and 1992 Olympic Games . After that, the separation between professionals and amateurs was lifted. Since then, the track world championships have been held in the elite category.
