Lisandra Guerra Rodríguez (born October 31, 1987 in Colón ) is a Cuban track cyclist . As a multiple Pan American champion, she has been one of the most successful train drivers on the continent since the mid-2000s.

Athletic career

Lisandra Guerra's favorite discipline is the 500-meter time trial on the track. She crowned her first international appearance at the Pan American cycling championships in 2005 with first place in the time trial and second place each in sprint and keirin . In the same year she became two-time junior world champion in sprint and time trial in Vienna .

In the following years Guerra stood numerous times on the podium at world championships, world cups as well as at Pan-American championships; Until 2016 she was eight times Pan-American champion in various short-term disciplines. At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing , she reached tenth place in the sprint. In 2007 and 2011 she again won the gold medal in the time trial at the Pan-American World Cycling Championships, and in 2007 in the sprint. She also won the sprint title at the Pan American Games in 2011 , while there was a 7th place in the Keirin.

In 2008 Lisandra Guerra became world champion in the 500-meter time trial. In addition, she achieved overall victory in this discipline at the Track Cycling World Cup 2007/08 . At the Summer Olympics in 2008 in Beijing Guerra reached the sprint tenth, four years later at the games in London , she was sixth.

Also in 2016 Guerra was nominated for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . Together with Arlenis Sierra and Marlies Mejías , she prepared for her participation in the Center Mondial Cyclisme of the World Cycling Association UCI in Aigle, Switzerland . In Rio, she finished 17th in the Keirin and 20th in the Sprint.

Lisandra Guerra then had a break from competition because she had a child until she returned to the sport in 2018. In 2019 she won the silver medal in Keirin at the Pan American Games in Lima .
