sailing
In 2017 van Velthoven won the most famous sailing regatta, the 35th America's Cup, as a member of the New Zealand team . For the energy supply of the hydraulic system of the racing catamaran , which moves the wing sail and the hydrofoils among other things , no hand-driven grinders are used as an innovation , but, like a bicycle, pedal cranks with pedals ( cyclors ). Although the cyclors are to be replaced by grinders again, van Velthooven declared in January 2018 that he wanted to remain active in sailing.
