Ethan Mitchell (born February 19, 1991 in Auckland ) is a New Zealand track cyclist . Alongside Edward Dawkins and Sam Webster , he is the dominant New Zealand athlete in the short-term disciplines on the track in the 2000s and 2010s; The three drivers are also successful internationally, often together.
Athletic career
Since 2007, Ethan Mitchell has had numerous victories in short-term events on the track. He is particularly successful as a driver for the New Zealand team in the team sprint . So he won the title of Oceania Champion (one of them as a junior) in this discipline, a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games . He was three times world champion in team sprints, in 2009 together with Cameron Karwowski and Sam Webster as a junior.
In 2014 and 2016 , Mitchell was world champion in team sprint with Sam Webster and Edward Dawkins , with whom he achieved his greatest successes. The trio also started together at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and finished fifth.
In 2016 Ethan Mitchell was nominated for participation in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he won the silver medal in a team sprint together with Sam Webster and Edward Dawkins . In the following year he was together with Webster and Dawkins for the third time world champion in the team sprint, in the sprint he won bronze. Up to and including 2020, Webster, Dawkins and Mitchell were four times Oceania champions in team sprints. In 2018 they also won the gold medal at the} Commonwealth Games .
