Scott Sunderland (born March 16, 1988 in Busselton ) is a retired Australian cyclist.
Athletic career
Scott Sunderland started out as a specialist in the short-term disciplines on the track. In 2003 he was Australian youth time trial champion , second in sprint and scratch . In the following years he achieved numerous podium places in the junior sector, both nationally and internationally. In 2006 he was in Ghent Junior World Champion in 1000 meter time trial and Vice World Champion in the sprint. Since then, Sunderland started for the elite class.
In 2008 Sunderland won together with Daniel Ellis and Jason Niblett the team sprint at the Track Cycling World Cup in Melbourne in 2008/09 and the 1000 meter time trial. In 2010 he became A Keirin Australian Champion . In the same year he won the gold medal in the time trial and in the team sprint as well as the silver medal in the sprint at the Commonwealth Games .
In 2012 Scott Sunderland became world champion in the team sprint together with Matthew Glaetzer and Shane Perkins .
From 2014 Sunderland also increasingly competed on the road . In 2015 he won the longest Australian one-day race over nearly 300 kilometers, the Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic . In 2017 he won a stage each of the Tour de Langkawi , the Tour de Korea , the Tour de Hongrie and the Tour of China II .
