Juan Esteban Arango Carvajal (born October 9, 1986 in Medellín ) is a Colombian track and road cyclist .

Athletic career

In 2008 Juan Esteban Arango first attracted international attention when he finished third in the team pursuit at the Bicycle World Cup in Cali , together with Edwin Ávila , Arles Castro and Alexander González , and with Carlos Urán he won silver in a two-man team . In the following year, the Colombian track four with Arango, Castro, Edwin Ávila and Weimar Roldán decided the run of the World Cup in Cali for themselves. In 2010 he became vice world champion in scratch .

In the years to come Arango was able to establish himself in the world's elite. He won several runs of the Track Cycling World Cup in various disciplines and was five times Pan American champion by 2016. He also won victories in the Central American and Caribbean Games , the South American Games and the Pan American Games .

In 2008 and 2012 Arango competed in the Olympic Games. In Beijing in 2008, the Colombian four finished tenth with Arango, Castro, Juan Pablo Forero and Jairo Pérez . Four years later, the Colombian team with Arango, Ávila, Castro, Kevin Rios and Roldán was eighth, Arango in the Omnium was tenth at the Olympic Games in London .
