Rubén Dario Murillo Minota (born January 28, 1990 in Apartadó ) is a Colombian track cyclist who specializes in short-term disciplines and in particular in the team sprint discipline.

Athletic career

Rubén Murillo was very active in movement as a child, and he initially played football successfully. He was appointed to the regional selection, where he played alongside the future national player Juan Cuadrado . He initially operated cycling as a BMX race; He financed cycling from the small salary he already earned with football. After moving to Medellín to attend secondary school, he rode a cycle track for the first time . As a result he switched to track cycling. As the only dark-skinned cyclist in his country, he was nicknamed Sombra ( shadow ) by his fellow athletes .

In 2014 Murillo won three silver medals together with Fabián Puerta and Santiago Ramírez Morales at the South American Games , the Central American and Caribbean Games and the Pan American Championships. In 2016 and 2017, the three drivers became pan-American champions together in the team sprint. At the 2018 South American Games , Murillo won the team sprint with Puerta and Kevin Quintero . In 2019, Santiago Ramírez Morales, Kevin Quintero and Juan Esteban Arango finished second at the Pan American Games .
