Ingmar De Poortere (born May 27, 1984 in Ghent ) is a former Belgian cyclist who was mainly active in endurance disciplines on the track .

Athletic career

As a youth and junior driver, Ingmaar De Poortere was twice Belgian champion on the track. In 2002 he won the junior race Omloop of the Vlaamse Gewesten . In 2004 he was national elite omnium champion, in 2007 in scratch and together with Kenny De Ketele , Steve Schets and Tim Mertens in the team pursuit . Also in 2007 he and his colleagues from Davitamon-Win for Life-Jong Vlaanderen won the team time trial of the Volta Ciclista Internacional a Lleida . On the track he and Tim Mertens won the three races of the UIV Cup in Rotterdam , Berlin and Copenhagen and also the overall ranking. In total, he won twelve national titles on the track during his career.

At the Track Cycling World Cup in Cali , De Poortere won gold with Mertens in the two-man team . He also started in a total of eleven six-day races . After he could not start with the Belgian four-man at the 2012 Olympic Games in London due to persistent back problems , he ended his active cycling career.
