Gong Jinjie (宫 金 杰Gōng Jīnjié , born November 12, 1986 in Jilin ) is a former Chinese track cyclist and Olympic champion who specializes in short-term disciplines.

Athletic career

Gong Jinjie has been one of the best track cyclists in China since the mid-2000s. She achieved her first international success in 2006 when she finished second behind her compatriot Guo Shuang in the sprint at the Asian Games in Doha . At the UCI Track World Championships in 2008 , she and Zheng Lulu became vice world champion in the team sprint . She was able to repeat this success in 2010 with Lin Junhong . There were also numerous podium placements in track cycling world cup races , including in the Keirin and 500 meter time trials .

At the 2012 Olympic Games in London , Gong and Guo won the silver medal in the team sprint after being put back in second place as winners of the final run due to a substitution error. In 2015 she became world champion in team sprint together with Zhong Tianshi , with whom she also won the title of Asian champion in team sprint the following year .

In 2016 Gong Jinjie was nominated to take part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she and Zhong Tianshi won the gold medal in the team sprint. She finished 16th in the sprint and 17th in the Keirin. She then ended her cycling career.
