Zhong Tianshi (born February 2, 1991 ) is a Chinese track cyclist and Olympic champion.
Zhong Tianshi specializes in the short-term disciplines on the railway. In 2009 she became the junior world champion in the 500 meter time trial .
Athletic career
At the third run of the Track Cycling World Cup 2012/13 in Aguascalientes , Zhong set a new world record over 200 meters with a flying start with 10.573 seconds. In 2013 she achieved her first international victories in the elite class, when she won the gold medal in the 500-meter time trial at the East Asian Games and the Keirin competition at the 2012/13 Track Cycling World Cup in Aguascalientes, Mexico .
In 2015, Zhong became world champion in team sprint together with Gong Jinjie . The following year she won the World Championship title in the sprint final against her compatriot Lin Junhong and was the first Chinese cyclist to win an individual title at World Championships; The double victory was also a novelty.
In 2016, Zhong Tianshi was nominated for participation in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she finished eleventh in the keirin and fifth in the sprint. Together with Gong Jinjie, she won the gold medal in the team sprint. At the Asian Track Championships in 2018, she won three medals: Gold with Song Charui in the team sprint, silver in the sprint and bronze in the Keirin. The following year she won the entire set of medals at the Asian Championships : gold in the team sprint (with Lin Junhong ), silver in the sprint and bronze in the keirin. At the UCI Track World Championships 2020 in Berlin , she finished third in the team sprint with Chen Feifei .
