The East Asian Games 2013 ( VI. East Asian Games ) were played from October 6th to October 15th, 2013 in Tianjin . The ten-day games the budget by one-fifth to have been lower than for the games in 2009 in Hong Kong than 240 million Hong Kong dollars was. The main venue was the Tianjin Olympic Center Stadium . Tianjin was awarded the contract to host the event in 2007. The games were opened by Liu Yandong .

Compared to the 2009 games, baseball , dragon boating , fencing , gymnastics , karate and soft tennis were added, while billiards , windsurfing , rowing and rugby 7 were no longer part of the games.
