Football at the East Asian Games

At the East Asian Games, football is one of the sports that has been part of the program of the Games since 1993. The tournament takes place every four years. Participants are the U-23 national football teams of the nine East Asian associations. A tournament in women's football has not yet been played. In the first edition in 1993 there were junior teams of different ages at the start, North Korea even with its national team. Since 1997, an age limit of 23 years has been in effect, analogous to the regulation at the Olympic football tournament .
