Football at the Island Games
At the Island Games, football is one of the sports that has been part of the games program since 1989. However, as early as 1985 there was a soccer tournament for U-16 teams with only five field players each. Potential participants are the soccer teams or national teams from currently 27 partially autonomous or dependent or state-owned islands worldwide. A women's football tournament has also been held since 2001.
