Football at the Pan American Games
At the Pan American Games, football isone of the sports that has been part of the program of the Games since 1951. Participants are the national footballteams of the CONCACAF and CONMEBOL associations organizedwithin FIFA . The tournament is held every four years. A women's football tournament has also been held since 1999. Since the tournament of the games in 1991, an age limit of 23, in 2007 of 20 and 2011 of 21 years has been ineffect for the men's teams, analogous to the regulation for the Olympic soccer tournament . The teams from South America competed in 2003 with U-20 and 2007 with U-17 teams.
