At the World Military Games, football is one of the sports that has been part of the program of the Games since 1995. Participants are the military national teams of thecountries organizedin the International Military Sports Federation . The tournament is played every four years and replaced the soccer military world championship held from 1946 to 2005. The winner of the tournament held the title of "Football Military World Champion" for four years. However, since 2013 there have been separate military World Cups organized and staged by the CISM, which is why the winners of the CISM World Football Trophy from 2013 again bear the title of "Soccer Military World Champion" and not the gold medal winner. A tournament in women's football has been held since 2007. Here, too, three separate World Cup tournaments took place from 2008 to 2010. Since 2016, the title "Women's Football Military World Champion" has been played again at its own World Cup, the "CISM Women's World Football Cup", which is why the gold medal winners willno longer have this titlefrom the 2019 Games in Wuhan .
