Football at the West Asian Games
At the West Asian Games, football is one of the sports that has been a regular feature of the Games since 1997. The tournament takes place at irregular intervals. Participants are the U-23 national football teams of the twelve associations in West Asia and, until 2014, also Iran. A tournament in women's football has not yet been played. Since 1997, an age limit of 23 years has been in effect, analogous to the regulation at the Olympic football tournament .
