Football at the Mediterranean Games
At the Mediterranean Games, football is one of the sports that has been part of the program of the Games since 1951. The tournament takes place every four years in the year after the Summer Olympics, until 1991 in the year before. Participants are the national soccer teams of the Mediterranean countries from Africa, Asia and Europe, whereby the European representatives usually compete with B or amateur teams. Israel is excluded from participation for political reasons. Andorra, Serbia and San Marino also take part, although they are not on the Mediterranean. A tournament in women's football has not yet taken place.
