1959 Pan American Games / Football

For the third time, a football tournament was held at Pan-American games in 1959 . It took place in Chicago between August 21 and September 5, 1959. Seven nations took part. Everyone played against everyone once and the winner got 2 points. Argentina was able to defend its title.

The star of the Brazilians, who sent an amateur team led by Luís Vinhaes and coached by Newton Cardoso , was Gérson , who was to become world champion in Mexico in 1970 .
