Colby Pearce (born June 12, 1972 in Boulder ) is an American cycling coach and former track and road cyclist .

Athletic career

Colby Pearce won the American points race for the first time in 1999 on the track . In the following years he was a total of 14 times national champion, in points, in two-man teams , in team pursuit and in scratch . In 2003 he won the bronze medal in the two-man team driving at the Pan American Games , together with James Carney . In the 2004 season he won the Track World Cup in Aguascalientes and the points race in Sydney . At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens , Pearce took part in the points race and finished in 14th place. In 2007 he was Pan American champion with Brad Huff in two-man team driving.

Colby Pearce began his career on the road in 1996 with the US cycling team Shaklee . In 1998 he drove for the Colorado Cyclist-Ikon-Lexus before moving back to Shaklee in 1999. In 2001 he rode for the Prime Alliance Cycling Team and for the next two years for Ofoto-Lombardi Sports . In the 2005 season, Pearce was still under contract with TIAA-CREF for half a year . In 2008 and 2009 he won a stage at the national Gateway Cup .

In November 2005, Pearce ended his active career and was coach of the US National Track Cycling Team for the endurance disciplines. In April 2007 he resigned from his position as a trainer to go racing again. In 2010 he finished tenth together with Daniel Holloway at the World Railroad Championships in two-man team driving.
